Located one hours drive south west from Cairns City, nestled amongst Mabi rainforest and Halloran's Hill Environmental Park. The award winning, Summit Rainforest Retreat, offers a 1 bedroom apartment, or 5 bedroom holiday house with conference room facility, on the Atherton Tablelands, in a luxurious setting, for you and your groups private indulgence. The Summit B&B (check availability and rates here), is now available from July 2008.  A brand new, self contained "Queenslander" dwelling, with 3 bedrooms all with ensuites and each bedroom having an entrance onto a spacious deck with views from each room.

The Summit Rainforest Retreat is located in the Cairns Highlands, also known as the Atherton Tablelands, in Far North Queensland, Australia. The retreat is situated on the summit of an extinct volcano and commands the highest point in Atherton. You will love the tranquil rainforest setting with its 180 degree panoramic views. Walk through the rainforest to the centre of the crater, enjoy the spectacular scenery, use the "conference room", or relax by the pool/spa whilst you sip a cool drink. The Summit B&B (check availability and rates here), has a slightly lower altitude on the properties slope, but still with magnificent views, this dwelling can be booked as individual B&B rooms or as an entire holiday house.

Peace and tranquillity is assured on over 2 hectares of land, the house boasts a huge entertainment deck and you'll delight in the abundant native wildlife at your doorstep...birds, wallabies, pademelons, bandicoots, possums and lumholtz tree kangaroos, to name a few.

The extended local area is an ecological wonderland of delight for the traveller. It is one of the most diverse regions in Australia with 4 distinct landscapes within a very small area. A highlight is to visit "Platypus Bend" only a 15 minute drive from Atherton & The Summit, it is a 71 ha private property which is registered as "Land for Wildlife". Walks and canoe hire are available to get up close and view native rainforest with some of its inhabitants, such as platypus, Lumholtz tree kangaroo's, echidna's, green ring tailed possums, pademelons, Johnstone river turtles, fish and lots more, without the tourist "hordes" found at other sites.

The Summit Rainforest Retreat is a 5 bedroom holiday house (sleeps up to 16), or a 1 bedroom apartment (sleeps 4) in a luxurious, "nature lovers" setting. Ideal for singles, couples, families, groups, multiple couples, weddings, conferences, meetings & seminars etc. Packages for accommodation and conferences are available, so that you can mix business with pleasure.

Each booking for The Summit Rainforest Retreat, has exclusive use of the facilities, this means that only one booking at a time can be made. "Now Open", July 2008, B&B rooms or the entire dwelling, can also be booked at The Summit's new self contained, non hosted B&B - The Summit B&B. If needed, Atherton Blue Gum B&B is also available for extra accommodation and only a few minutes walk.
